History: Timeline

Personality:
Robo is first and foremost a scientist. He was raised by Nikola Tesla for twenty years, and intended for scientific pursuits, spending much of his first 20 years studying with Tesla. However, Robo was a rebellious youth, and despite the express disapproval of his creator/father figure, decided to follow his dreams of being a hero (as if splitting the subatomic veil to another dimesion was not enough), running of to be mentored by Jack Tarot, a classic pulp adventure vigilante. Tesla and Robo do eventually make up, teaming together against the enemy Tarot had been in New York City who was an old adversary of Tesla's (Edison)
Tarot was Robo's first mentor in combat, and also his inspiration for Action Science/fixing the world's problems. As a result of his age and experience in science and combat, Robo has led multiple teams and projects in the name of Action Science.
These years have given him a keen sense of genre savvyness, particularly tropes pertaining to science, technology, and the impossible. However, despite his repeated encounters with what should be impossible, Robo repeatedly taken off guard by the strangeness, outright ignoring explanations if they are not within the realm of science, even if they are true.
He has a particularly witty tongue (mouth? Speaker?) which never really helps the situation, but he still hasn’t tamed it in the 90 years he’s been alive. Robo will happily snark at friend and foe alike, no matter the situation.
Robo is also an arbitrary skeptic, meaning that if it doesn’t conform to or can’t be proven by science as he knows it (and he knows it quite well), he won’t believe it, and likely come up with a different scientific reason for the phenomenon. Any magic he comes across will likely be subject to this, just as time travel used to be until Dr. Dinosaur (a usual but mostly deserved object of skepticism) blasted him a century and half into the past via time bomb.
Robo has been dedicated to protecting the world from its various threats, both from itself and from some not so mundane threats since almost his creation. He has recently come to the conclusion that he and his team should focus more on actual, practical science which can help the world rather than constantly clean up after everyone else’s science mess. His moral compass is also a product of his upbringing, and he has a strong sense of justice, though not above being petty toward his enemies.

Abilities/Skills:
Robo has extensive combat experience, having run multiple world (and universe) saving operations over the course of his life. He’s far more durable than the average human, as well as several times stronger, both traits that have served him well in combat. When it comes to attacking, he’s at home with the various guns he has (had?) on his person, the collection consisting of an entire arsenal made to deal with the odd threats he’s come up against in his life. He’s quite a crack shot as well, but if there’s no guns around, Robo is happy to use his fists to do the talking, which unfortunately for his guns seems to happen quite often.
The only way to permanently kill Robo is complete destruction of his ‘brain’. He’s survived atmospheric re-entries and airship explosions, the latter with only his head intact. He was revived over one hundred years later, as if those years hadn't passed.
In addition to combat skills, Atomic Robo is highly intelligent, having earned a PHD in physics, and dozens of other honorary degrees from institutes around the world. He also has mastery in science fields such as electrical and mechanical engineering, nuclear physics, aeronautics, astronautics, robotics, and high-dimensional mathematics, the latter of which he pioneered an entirely new branch of due to encounters with Lovecraftian horrors. He’s a brilliant engineer as well, having managed to build a one wheel motorcycle from scraps in the 1800's.
Despite being an artificial intelligence, Robo’ processing abilities do not match typical examples of the label. In terms of memory and processing power, Robo’s brain has more in common with a human’s, if a highly intelligent one. He has to study, instead of downloading information straight to his memory. (It’s been theorized that it was an intentional detail on Tesla’s part, to make Robo more human.)

Come back in a few minutes, and displayed on screen is a disheveled silver robot, with no facial features besides two large blue optics, holding a large piece of machinery attached to a smoking power source. It looks an awful lot like a gun or a handcannon…]

Would anyone happen to know if there’s a firing range on this ship? Preferably one designed to withstand large blast yields and or electrical voltage.

[The power pack begins to smoke again, earning a shouted] Applesauce! [before Robo shuts off the feed. If there’s any consolation, you probably wouldn’t feel the explosion if it did happen. It’s not that explosive…]
